Rangamati Representative:

An innocent man named Babul Marma, son of Atuise Marma was allegedly beaten up by the army at Farua in Bilachhari upazila of Rangamati.

According to local sources, a group of army personnel led by Senior Warrant Officer Ramzan Ali, Commander of Taktanala Army Camp in Farua Union, Bilachhari, beat Babul Marma without any reason at around 1:00 pm on December 26, 2020.

The beating of Babul Marma by the army without any reason has caused panic and anger among the villagers of Taktanala Jumma.

There are have more allegations that the army officer has harassed the Jummas, including women, more than once in the past.

It may be mentioned that on November 11, 2020, this warrant officer of the army, Md. Ramzan Ali, went to a cultural program organized on the occasion of Kathin Chibar at Taktanala Dakshin Para buddhist monastery. In evening he offered to buy a 16-year-old Tanchangya girl in Rs 10,000.
At one stage, in the middle of the day, when the warrant officer wanted to take the girl to the camp by force, the local peoples stopped him and got involved in a scuffle with people. Later the girl able to fled and took shelter in relative's house.
