It has been alleged that the Bangladesh army conducted a harassing search of the houses of 19 villagers in Lulangchhari of Rangamati's Jurachhari upazila.

It is learned that the search took place at noon on Sunday (December 20, 2020).

According to local sources, Lt. Commander of Banyogichhara Army Zone (7 Bengal) in Jurachari. An army of about 90/100 men led by Colonel Mohammad Faisal, a major and Captain Mehedi, took up position in the forest near Lulangchhari village at around 3 am yesterday.

After leaving the jungle at around 12 noon, the army personnel entered the village of Lulangchhari and searched the houses of the village for several hours without any reason and looted many items including furniture and clothes. At that time, the soldiers harassed him through interrogation and snatched the mobile phones of at least 8 villagers, kept them in custody for a long time and then returned them.

Lusai Muni Chakma (55), father- Mangal Chakma; 12. New Chandra Chakma (50), father-Surya Mohan Chakma; 13. Shanti Jiban Chakma (35), father-Bishu Mohan Chakma; 14. Locals said another army team in three more vehicles joined the search operation. After the search, the army members left for the nearby Patthar Moni Chakma Para around 4:30 pm.

Such harassing search by the army without any reason has created panic in the surrounding villages.
